Our carers’ stories

Doorway Dancers

See below commentary and link to video of the wonderful Doorway Dancers that we arranged to visit some unsuspecting carers.

Dozens of unsuspecting  carers from across Bridgend received a surprise  when they answered their door’s during Carers Week, making caring visible and valued. They were greeted with a socially-distanced dance from the Kitsch n Sync Collective as a ‘thank you’ for their tireless, and often un recognised work.

The visits were organised by Bridgend Carers Centre registered charity Awen Cultural Trust.

Some comments about the dancers:

It was brilliant, what a show! Only wish I was younger and would have joined in. Outstanding and to go through the trouble of doing has given such satisfaction and give a real gee up for the day.”

“Such a lovely surprise and has made my smile all day and I’m still smiling.”

“Thanks so much for coming to see me this afternoon, I had been clearing out my study and was ready for a break! I think your entertainment was fabulous and the three ladies were so very talented. Thanks to everyone who thought up this wonderful idea, I hope all the other people enjoyed it as much as I did.”

“Thank you for nominating me for the lovely surprise it didn’t only make my week it made my year loved it so much.”

Carers Week 2021 stories

During Carers week June 2021, Bridgend Carers Centre captured some powerful stories of how a selection of carers coped with strength and resilience during the pandemic.

Listen to their stories and hear from various organisations what support is available to carers across Bridgend, hosted by ‘Mike Church’ Stronger Together Bridgend.
